Call for talks for RubyWorld Conference 2010

RubyWorld Conference 2010 Executive Committee accepts of candidates to deliver a lecture at “RubyWorld Conference 2010” from the general public according to the following guidelines.

Strict audition is performed for applicants by “Program review committee of RubyWorld Conference 2010” to choose the presenter.

Why don’t you deliver a presentation to the world in relation to efforts on Ruby? We’re looking forward to your positive applications.

General outline of RubyWorld Conference 2010

1) Date: From September 6 (Mon.) to 7 (Tue.) in 2010

2) Venue: International conference room (3rd floor) and mulipurpose hall (1st floor) of “Kunibiki Messe” in Shimane Prefectural Convention Center

  • The date and the venue for presentation should be notified after adoption.

3) Organizer: RubyWorld Conference 2010 Executive Committee

4) Co-host: (Independent Administrative Agency) Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA)

guideline

1) Targeted applicants: Those who are able to deliver a presentation with a content according to the following themes.

  1. Introduction of cutting-edge technology trend relating to Ruby
  2. Introduction of system development examples
  3. Ruby introduction examples from user’s perspective
  4. Introduction of efforts of public institutions on Ruby
  5. Introduction of education and study on Ruby

2) Deadline of application: Due not later than 17:00(JST) on June 30 (Wed.) 2010

3) Way of application:

(1) Application forms

① Outline of presenter:
Description within a A4-size sheet (format isn’t designated)

  • Presentation theme (any one of (1) to (5)) described above
  • Title of presentation
  • Name of presenter with a contact information

② Outline of presentation:
Description within three A4-size sheets (format isn’t designated). Attachment of documents is available as needed.

  • Description of abstract of presentation

Note that application forms shall not be returned.

(2) Application by mail

  • Confirmation mail should be sent within 3 days after receipt acknowledgement by the organizer. In a case that confirmation mail isn’t delivered, please take a moment to contact with us according to the following contact information.

4) Determination of presenter: Early July 2010 (Notification should be made regardless of the screening result.)

5) Number of presentation required: About two

6) Time for presentation: 45 minutes (Of which 5 minutes should be used for Qs and As.)

7) Language for application and presentation: Japanese or English

8) Perk for presenter:

  • Commemorative gift is presented by the planning committee of RubyWorld Conference 2010.
  • The contents of presentation are to be posted on an official web site as well as on guide book to be created by the planning committee of RubyWorld Conference 2010, as long as the presenter agrees with.

9) Burden of expense

  • Expense for application shall be borne by applicants.
  • Expense required for presentation (such as presentation documents preparation expense, and traveling expense to the venue) shall be borne by presenters.
